Utility Tools

Practical tools that don't fit neatly into one category but come up often — character counting, unit conversion, QR code generation.

What's in this category?

This category collects the small jobs that come up all the time. For text there are the Character Counter, Line Counter, Case Converter and Text Cleaner. The unit converters cover length, weight, temperature and data size, and the Timezone Converter compares the clock between two cities.

For documents and labels there are the Invoice Generator, Signature Generator, QR Code Generator and Barcode Generator. The Turkish ID Number Validator and Turkish IBAN Validator check whether a number is correctly formed. For questions about your connection there are What Is My IP and the Internet Speed Test, and for classes and teams there are the Random Number Generator, Random Team Splitter and GPA Converter.

Which tool for which job?

  • Before sending your Turkish IBAN to a client, run it through the Turkish IBAN Validator to catch a typo.
  • To put a menu or event page on a printed poster, use the QR Code Generator. For shelf or product labels, use the Barcode Generator.
  • Scheduling a call with a team abroad? Use the Timezone Converter.
  • If a graduate program abroad asks for a 4.0-scale GPA and your transcript uses a 100-point scale, use the GPA Converter.
  • To split a class into project groups, use the Random Team Splitter. To pick a raffle winner, use the Random Number Generator.
  • To make sense of a recipe in ounces or Fahrenheit, use the Weight and Temperature Converters.

Things to keep in mind

  • ID and IBAN validation only checks the algorithm. A valid result does not mean the number belongs to a real person or an open account.
  • The Invoice Generator produces a visual template. Businesses in Turkey that fall under the e-invoice or e-archive rules must issue official invoices through a GİB-compliant system, so ask an accountant if unsure.
  • The Internet Speed Test measures speed to this server. Your result may differ from your provider's advertised speed or from other test sites.
  • The GPA Converter follows the conversion table of YÖK, Turkey's Council of Higher Education. If the institution you apply to uses its own table, follow theirs.
