Turkey Severance Pay Calculator (2026)
Estimates your gross/net severance pay based on your monthly gross wage and years of service, using the 2026 H2 ceiling (73,729.87 TRY). For information only, not official legal advice.
When should you use this?
Use this when you need to quickly calculate severance pay based on years worked and the most recent gross salary.
When shouldn't you use this?
If the result doesn't automatically apply the statutory cap, you need to compare the figure against the current cap yourself; also, entering partial years or dates incorrectly will throw off the result, double-check the dates.
Step-by-step
- Enter your latest gross monthly pay in Monthly gross wage (TRY). Turkish law uses a 'dressed' wage here: base salary plus regular benefits such as meal, transport and bonus payments.
- Put the number of completed years with the same employer in Full years. Your payslips or your service record on e-Devlet, Turkey's government portal, show the exact dates.
- Add the remaining months in Extra months (0-11). Seven years and four months means 7 and 4.
- Click Run and review the estimated gross and net amounts.
Example
In Turkey, kıdem tazminatı is a lump sum employers owe to qualifying workers when employment ends. Say you worked 10 years and 6 months and your dressed wage is below the ceiling. The law grants 30 days of gross pay per full year, and partial years count proportionally, so the gross figure comes to roughly 10.5 months of gross pay. If your wage is above the ceiling, the ceiling is used instead. Severance is exempt from income tax and only stamp duty is deducted, so net ends up close to gross.
How is severance pay calculated?
Severance pay is calculated per full year of service on one month's gross pay, with proportional payment for the part of a year. The pay used can include regular allowances such as transport and meals in addition to base salary. There is a ceiling that applies in each period, and the calculated amount cannot exceed it. Only stamp tax is deducted from severance pay.
What to watch when calculating
- The ceiling changes every period; confirm the current value from an official source.
- Eligibility conditions (at least one year of service, reason for leaving) differ from case to case.
- Check your employment contract for which payments count in the gross pay.
- This tool does a general calculation; consult an employment lawyer in a dispute.
Things to keep in mind
- You need at least one year with the same employer to qualify. Resigning without a legally recognised reason usually means no severance.
- The ceiling is updated twice a year. Check the amount valid on your exit date with official sources.
- Notice pay and unused annual leave are separate items and aren't included here.
- If there's a dispute or the reason for termination is contested, talk to an employment lawyer or mediator before signing anything.
