Random Number Generator

Generate random numbers within a range you choose.

Enter a min-max range and count to generate random numbers, with an optional unique mode.

With Random Number Generator, you get the answer instantly instead of calculating or looking it up by hand. Random Number Generator brings a small but genuinely useful tool together on a single page. Everything runs in your browser — your file or text is never uploaded to a server.

Step-by-step

  1. Enter the lowest value of your range in Min and the highest in Max. For numbers between 1 and 100, that's Min 1 and Max 100.
  2. Enter how many numbers you want in Count.
  3. Set Unique. Choose Yes if the same number must not appear twice (a raffle, assigning order). Choose No if repeats are fine (simulating dice rolls).
  4. Click Run, then copy the results or take a screenshot.

Example

You're running an Instagram giveaway and need 3 winners from 240 comments. Number the comments in order, first comment as 1 and last as 240. Run the tool with Min 1, Max 240, Count 3 and Unique set to Yes, and the people behind those three comments win. Decide in advance what happens when one person comments more than once: either list each person a single time, or count every comment as an entry. Screen-recording the draw keeps the result above dispute.

Where do you use random numbers?

  • Giveaways: Numbering entrants and drawing unique numbers is one of the most transparent methods.
  • Ordering: Generate unique numbers from 1 to N for presentation, shift or game order.
  • Sampling: Impartially choose which records to audit from a list.
  • Test data: Run software or spreadsheet tests with repeating numbers.
  • Games and homework: Pick dice rolls, cards or question numbers.

Steps for a fair draw

  1. Write the rules in advance: who can enter, how many winners, whether one person can have several entries.
  2. List and number the entrants and share the list.
  3. Do the draw on a screen recording and announce the winning numbers.
  4. Decide the number of reserve winners beforehand.

Unique mode and repeat mode

In unique mode a number appears only once (like drawing from a bag), and the count cannot exceed the number of values in the range. In repeat mode each draw is independent, like rolling a die, so the same number can come up again. Use unique mode for draws and repeat mode for simulations.

For official draws such as promotional campaigns, follow the applicable regulations and platform rules; this tool offers no legal advice.

Things to keep in mind

  • In unique mode, Count can't exceed the number of values in the range. Asking for 12 unique numbers between 1 and 10 is impossible.
  • Run a few test draws to see whether Min and Max themselves can come up, and write your raffle rules to match.
  • For an official prize draw, announce your selection method beforehand. If legal requirements apply where you are, check them with someone qualified.
  • Re-running the tool because you didn't like the result undermines a fair draw. Record the first result and stick with it.
