Notice Pay Calculator (Turkey)
Calculate your notice period and pay based on years of service, per Turkish Labor Law No. 4857.
Notice Pay Calculator helps you skip the small mistakes that come with doing this by hand — rounding errors, mixed-up formulas — enter the numbers and get the result instantly. Instead of working this out by hand, Notice Pay Calculator gets you to the answer in a few seconds, without arithmetic slip-ups. Everything runs in your browser — your file or text is never uploaded to a server.
Step-by-step
- Enter your latest gross monthly salary in Monthly gross wage (TRY). Regular benefits such as meal or travel allowances may count toward the wage used for notice pay, so check your payslip.
- Enter the number of full years you worked for this employer in Seniority (years).
- Enter the remaining months in Extra months. For 2 years and 7 months, that is 2 and 7.
- Click Run to see the notice period and the matching notice pay.
When is it useful?
In Turkey, an employer or employee ending an open-ended contract must give advance notice. If they don't, they owe the other side pay for the notice period, known as ihbar tazminatı. Under Labor Law No. 4857 the period is 2 weeks for under 6 months of service, 4 weeks from 6 months to 1.5 years, 6 weeks from 1.5 to 3 years and 8 weeks beyond 3 years. This tool estimates that payment.
Example
You worked somewhere for 1 year and 4 months and were let go without notice. Your service is under 1.5 years, so the notice period is 4 weeks, or 28 days. With a gross monthly wage of 30,000 TRY, the daily gross is 30,000 / 30 = 1,000 TRY, and 28 days of notice pay comes to 28,000 TRY gross. Income tax and stamp duty are deducted from it, so the net amount you receive is lower.
Notice period and notice pay
The tool uses the notice periods by seniority in Article 17 of Labour Law No. 4857 (Turkey): 2 weeks for under 6 months, 4 weeks for 6 to 18 months, 6 weeks for 18 to 36 months, and 8 weeks for 36 months or more. Pay = monthly gross wage ÷ 30 × weeks × 7. Example: for someone on a 30,000 TL gross wage who has worked 2 years, the period is 6 weeks (42 days) and the amount is 30,000 ÷ 30 × 42 = 42,000 TL. With the same wage and 3 years it is 8 weeks and 56,000 TL. The result is a gross amount.
When reading the result
- The tool calculates only the statutory minimum periods. An employment contract or collective agreement may set longer ones.
- Only the monthly gross wage is taken as input. If benefits such as meals or transport should be included in the wage, you must add their amount yourself.
- It does not give a net figure after deductions; for tax deductions use the gross-to-net calculator or ask an accountant.
- Termination for just cause, probation and resignation can change the outcome. This calculation is not legal advice; for your own case ask a lawyer or the labour inspectorate.
Things to keep in mind
- Notice pay is owed by whichever side ends the contract without notice. An employee who quits without notice may owe it to the employer.
- When a contract is terminated for just cause, notice pay usually doesn't apply.
- Your contract may set longer notice periods than the law. Check it before relying on the numbers.
- The result is a guide. In a dispute, talk to an employment lawyer; Turkish law requires mediation before a labor lawsuit can be filed.
