Tools for HR and Payroll Specialists

8 tools useful for salary, severance, notice pay, and leave calculations.

HR and payroll work is largely the same calculation, repeated for a different employee each time. Net-Gross Salary Calculator and Income Tax Calculator clarify the numbers before an offer or a raise conversation, and SGK Premium Calculator shows the contribution amount quickly. Severance Pay Calculator and Notice Pay Calculator keep those two separate calculations straight when someone is leaving, and EYT Rough Check gives a rough first read based on a social-security start date. Annual Leave Calculator shows the leave earned based on seniority, and Overtime Pay Calculator works out the overtime amount from an hourly rate. None of these replace actual payroll software, but they're useful for a quick sanity check.

What are these tools good for?

Payroll software does the official math, but many questions HR gets during the day just need a quick estimate. These calculators follow Turkish labor and tax rules and help you give an employee a first answer without opening the payroll system.

  • Net-Gross Salary Calculator: Convert a candidate's expected take-home pay into a gross offer, or compare two raise scenarios.
  • SGK Premium Calculator: See employee and employer social security (SGK) shares separately when budgeting the full cost of a new role.
  • Income Tax Calculator: Explain why an employee's net pay drops later in the year when they move into a higher tax bracket.
  • Severance Pay Calculator: Estimate kıdem tazminatı, Turkey's statutory severance, before an exit meeting. It applies after at least one year of service, is based on 30 days' gross pay per full year, and is capped by a legal ceiling.
  • Notice Pay Calculator: Check the notice period for a termination. Turkish Labor Law sets it at 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks depending on length of service.
  • EYT Rough Check: EYT is a Turkish early-retirement arrangement for people first insured before 8 September 1999. Use it to give an employee a first indication.
  • Annual Leave Calculator: Plan leave and check entitlements for staff with different start dates.
  • Overtime Pay Calculator: Work beyond 45 hours a week is paid at a 50 percent premium. Compare the result with timesheets.

A sample workflow

An employee says they want to leave. You check unused leave days with the Annual Leave Calculator. If the type of exit gives severance rights, the Severance Pay Calculator gives an estimate. If the employer is ending the contract, the Notice Pay Calculator shows the notice period. Last month's overtime is checked against timesheets, and the Net-Gross Salary Calculator gives a rough net figure. Final numbers still come from payroll.

Tip

Minimum wage, the severance ceiling, tax brackets and SGK limits change every year, sometimes mid-year. Confirm current figures with official sources (GİB, SGK, e-Devlet) before sharing a result. For disputed terminations or retirement applications, bring in a labor lawyer or a certified accountant.
