YouTube Description Generator - DigiKitApp
Generate a description draft with a call to action for your video.
When should you use this?
Use this when you need to prepare a request for AI to draft a keyword-rich description that helps a video get found in search.
When shouldn't you use this?
Don't paste the generated draft as-is; video-specific details like real timestamps or social media links need to be added by you, AI has no way of knowing those.
Step-by-step
- Describe what the video covers in one or two sentences in 'Topic/summary'. Work in the words people would actually search for, such as sourdough bread for beginners.
- In 'Call to action', write the one thing you want viewers to do next: subscribe, visit a link or leave a question in the comments.
- Click 'Run' and read the description draft.
- Before pasting it into YouTube Studio, add timestamps, links and any details specific to the video yourself.
Example
A bike repair channel is uploading a 12-minute video on replacing a chain. The topic field reads how to replace a chain on a road bike, tools you need and common mistakes, and the call to action is subscribe so you don't miss the next maintenance video. The first lines of the draft explain what the video delivers. The creator then adds a list of the tools used and chapter timestamps underneath.
A good YouTube description
The description helps YouTube understand the video and viewers recognise the content. The first two sentences appear in search results and before “show more”, so the main topic and promise belong there. After that come timestamps, links and relevant keywords.
Tips for writing descriptions
- Use keywords in natural sentences; stuffing them does not help and looks bad.
- Give timestamps starting with 0:00 and at least three sections; YouTube can show them as chapters.
- Keep important links and social accounts near the top.
- Edit the generated text to match the video's actual content.
Things to keep in mind
- The first line or two is what viewers see before they tap 'more'. Put the key information and main search phrase there.
- For chapters to show up, timestamps need to start at 00:00 and include at least three sections. YouTube can change these rules, so check its help page.
- Stuffing the description with unrelated tags and keyword lists can break YouTube's policies, and it puts viewers off.
- If the video is sponsored or includes affiliate links, say so clearly in the description.
