SVG to PNG Converter

Choose your SVG, set the PNG width, and download a PNG with a transparent background.

Converting SVG to PNG

SVG is a scalable vector format, but social media, email, presentations and some apps accept only PNG. This tool converts your SVG to a PNG at the width you choose.

How to use it

  1. Choose your SVG file.
  2. Enter the PNG width in pixels (16-8000, default 1024).
  3. Press “Convert to PNG and download”; the height follows the aspect ratio automatically.

Choosing a width

UseSuggested width
Small icon, favicon64 – 256 px
Web page, blog image512 – 1024 px
Presentation, email1024 – 2000 px
Print, large poster2000 – 4000 px and above

SVG vs PNG

  • SVG is made of mathematical lines, does not degrade when enlarged and is often small.
  • PNG is pixel-based; it is fixed at the size you choose and loses quality when enlarged.
  • Keeping a logo as vector and exporting PNGs when needed is a good practice.

Things to keep in mind

  • The SVG should have a viewBox so the aspect ratio is found correctly.
  • External images and web fonts inside the SVG may not load for security reasons. Converting text to outlines avoids this.
  • With no background defined the PNG is transparent; add a rectangle to the SVG for a white background.
  • Your file is not uploaded; it is processed in your browser.

Choosing a width for high-resolution screens

Phones and newer laptops use two or three physical pixels for every CSS pixel. If a logo will appear 200 pixels wide on a page, exporting the PNG at 400 or 600 pixels keeps it sharp. Export it smaller and it may look blurry on those screens.

On the other hand, a PNG much larger than needed slows the page down. If your file comes out large, run it through an image compressor. For simple logos and icons on a website, using the SVG itself where possible is the best choice for both sharpness and file size.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert SVG to PNG?

Choose your SVG file, enter the PNG width in pixels and press the button. The height is set automatically from the SVG's aspect ratio and the PNG downloads.

Is the PNG background transparent?

Yes. If the SVG defines no background the PNG is transparent. For a white or coloured background, add a rectangle inside the SVG.

What width should I choose?

512-1024 pixels is usually enough for the web. For print and large screens you can choose 2000-4000 pixels. The tool supports 16 to 8000 pixels.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Conversion happens in your browser. Note: external images and web fonts inside the SVG may not load for security reasons.
