SGK Premium Calculator (2026)
Calculate employee and employer share social security and unemployment insurance premiums from a monthly gross wage.
SGK Premium Calculator helps you skip the small mistakes that come with doing this by hand — rounding errors, mixed-up formulas — enter the numbers and get the result instantly. Instead of working this out by hand, SGK Premium Calculator gets you to the answer in a few seconds, without arithmetic slip-ups. The whole process happens locally in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
Step-by-step
- Enter the gross amount from your contract or payslip in Monthly gross wage (TRY), not your take-home pay.
- If a bonus or other regular payment goes through payroll that month, you can run a second calculation with it added to the gross figure.
- Click Run.
- Read the employee share and employer share separately. The employee share comes out of your salary; the employer share is paid on top of the gross wage.
When is it useful?
SGK is Turkey's Social Security Institution, and contributions to it are split between worker and employer. This calculator helps when you're weighing a job offer and want to know how much of the gross figure goes to premiums, when you run a business and need the full monthly cost of a new hire, or when you simply want a rough check on the SGK deduction in your payslip.
Example
You run a small design studio and are thinking of moving a part-time employee to full time. Entering the gross wage you've discussed shows the employer share of social security and unemployment insurance as its own line, on top of the salary. That extra cost belongs in your budget. From the employee's side, the same screen shows which premiums come out of gross pay. Income tax and stamp duty are not part of this calculation.
How is the SGK premium calculated?
The tool calculates the employee and employer shares separately from the gross salary. On the employee side 14% social security and 1% unemployment insurance apply, and on the employer side 20.75% social security and 2% unemployment insurance. The calculation is capped; the monthly ceiling defined in the tool is 297,270 TL, and earnings above it do not enter the premium calculation.
Practical tips
- Rates and the ceiling can change each year; confirm current values from SGK's official announcements.
- Incentives, discounts and sector-specific rates can change the result; this tool does a general calculation.
- When preparing payroll, compare the result with your accountant's calculation.
Common mistakes
- Entering the net salary instead of the gross.
- Confusing tax deductions (income tax, stamp tax) with the premium calculation.
- Using the tool's result in place of an official payroll.
Things to keep in mind
- Premium rates and the minimum and maximum earnings they apply to change from period to period. Check current values on SGK's official site.
- If the gross wage is above the upper limit, premiums are calculated on the limit, not the full wage.
- Employer incentives and discounts can lower the real cost. An accountant can tell you which apply.
- Different rules can apply to retirees who keep working or to part-time arrangements.
