Hourly to Salary Calculator
Convert between hourly pay and annual salary using your hours per week and paid weeks per year.
How the conversion works
- Weekly pay = hourly rate × hours per week.
- Annual pay = weekly pay × paid weeks per year.
- Monthly pay = annual pay ÷ 12, and every two weeks = weekly pay × 2.
- Hourly rate from a salary = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × paid weeks per year).
The defaults are 40 hours a week and 52 paid weeks a year, which is 2,080 paid hours. You can change both to match your job.
Worked examples
| Situation | Hourly | Weekly | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 per hour, 40 hours, 52 weeks | 25.00 | 1,000.00 | 4,333.33 | 52,000.00 |
| 25 per hour, 40 hours, 50 weeks (2 unpaid weeks) | 25.00 | 1,000.00 | 4,166.67 | 50,000.00 |
| Salary of 65,000, 40 hours, 52 weeks | 31.25 | 1,250.00 | 5,416.67 | 65,000.00 |
Two unpaid weeks off cost 2,000 a year at 25 an hour, which is why the paid-weeks field matters.

Comparing a job paid hourly with a salaried offer
Convert both offers to the same basis. Offer A pays 28 an hour for 40 hours a week over 52 weeks: 28 × 2,080 = 58,240 a year. Offer B is a 62,000 salary: 62,000 ÷ 2,080 = 29.81 an hour. On those hours Offer B is worth about 1.81 more per hour, but if the salaried job regularly needs 45 hours a week the effective hourly rate drops to 62,000 ÷ (45 × 52) = 26.50.
| Hourly rate | Annual pay at 2,080 hours |
|---|---|
| 15 | 31,200 |
| 20 | 41,600 |
| 30 | 62,400 |
| 40 | 83,200 |
Things to keep in mind
- All figures are gross, before taxes and deductions. Take-home pay will be lower.
- Overtime, bonuses, tips and unpaid breaks are not included. If you are paid extra for overtime, calculate it separately.
- Paid time off counts as paid weeks. Only unpaid time off should reduce the weeks entered.
- Monthly pay is annual pay ÷ 12. Months with different numbers of weeks, and pay periods that are not monthly, can make an individual paycheck differ.
