HEIC to JPG Converter
Convert HEIC/HEIF photos from iPhone to JPG; your files are never uploaded.
Why convert HEIC to JPG?
iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. The format is smaller than JPG at similar quality, but Windows needs extra codecs and many websites and upload forms reject it. JPG opens everywhere.
How to use it
- Choose your HEIC / HEIF files; you can select several at once.
- Pick the JPG quality: high (92%), medium (80%) or low (60%).
- Press "Convert to JPG and download"; each file downloads as a .jpg with the same name.
Tips
- For many files the browser may ask permission for multiple downloads; allow it.
- Large photos can take a few seconds to convert. Keep the page open until it finishes.
- Converted JPGs may lack location data, which helps when sharing photos.
Things to keep in mind
- The tool is meant for single-image HEIC files. For a Live Photo only the main still image is converted.
- Converting to a lossy format loses some detail, so keep the original HEIC files as a backup.
- Corrupt files or unusual encodings may fail with an error message.
HEIC versus JPG
HEIC stores images with modern HEVC compression and can be roughly half the size of a JPG at similar quality. The trade-off is compatibility: Windows needs a codec and many websites reject the format on upload. For emailing a photo, uploading it to a form or opening it in an editor, JPG is the safest choice. In iPhone Settings you can also choose Camera → Formats → Most Compatible to save new photos as JPG directly.
Which devices open HEIC directly?
iPhone and Mac open HEIC files without anything extra. Many phones on Android 9 and later can also display HEIF/HEIC images. On Windows, the file may not open unless the HEIF Image Extensions from the Microsoft Store are installed.
Problems usually appear when uploading to a web form, sending by email or opening in an older program, since many forms accept only JPG and PNG. If you do not know who will open the file, or on what device, converting to JPG is the safest choice.
Frequently asked questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the default photo format on iPhone and iPad. It makes smaller files than JPG but many Windows apps and websites cannot open or upload it.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Conversion runs in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.
Is there quality loss?
JPG is lossy. At the highest quality setting the difference is hard to see; pick a lower quality for smaller files.
Are location and camera details kept?
EXIF data (location, date, camera) may not be preserved during conversion. That can help privacy, but keep the original HEIC if you need it.
