EYT (Early Retirement) Rough Check

Gives a ROUGH idea of whether you might be covered by Turkey's early-retirement provision. Not a definitive result, check your e-Devlet SGK service record.

Gives a ROUGH idea of whether you might be covered by Turkey's early-retirement provision based on your insurance start date. Not a definitive result.

EYT Rough Check is built to avoid the common mix-ups that come with this kind of calculation; just enter your numbers. EYT Rough Check helps you skip the small mistakes that come with doing this by hand — rounding errors, mixed-up formulas — enter the numbers and get the result instantly. Everything runs in your browser — your file or text is never uploaded to a server.

Step-by-step

  1. Find the date you were first registered with Turkey's Social Security Institution (SGK). The most reliable source is the service record (hizmet dökümü) on e-Devlet, the government's online portal.
  2. Enter it in the Insurance start date (YYYY-MM-DD) field as year, month, day. For 15 March 1998, that's 1998-03-15.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Treat the result as a first indication and get a definitive answer from SGK or a specialist.

Example

EYT stands for Emeklilikte Yaşa Takılanlar, roughly "those held back by the age rule". It's the arrangement that removed the minimum retirement age for people who were first insured in Turkey before 8 September 1999. Say your mother started working in the late 1990s but you don't know the exact date. Pull her service record from e-Devlet and find the first entry. If it's 1998-03-15, which is before the threshold, the tool will indicate she may be covered. A later date means EYT doesn't apply and other rules decide when she can retire.

Things to keep in mind

  • The tool only looks at the start date. Retirement also requires a minimum length of insurance and a minimum number of premium days.
  • Internships, apprenticeships, military service or buying back time worked abroad can affect the start date or premium days. Check these on the service record.
  • The required number of premium days depends on when and under which status you were insured. Get current requirements from SGK directly.
  • Having SGK or a social security advisor run the numbers before you apply lowers the risk of rejection for missing days.

When is it useful?

It's handy when you want a quick first answer to "could I, or my parent, retire under EYT?" and all you have is a start date. Use it before booking an SGK appointment to see roughly where things stand and what documents to gather.
