Count business days in a date range, or add or subtract business days from a start date.
How are business days calculated?
The tool works in two ways. In the first it scans the days between the start and end dates one by one, removes Saturdays, Sundays and the holidays you list, and counts the rest. In the second it starts from the start date and moves forward (or backward if you enter a negative number) by the number of business days you want, then gives the result date.
How to use it
- Choose the action: count between two dates or add business days to a date.
- Enter the start date, the end date for counting or the number of days to add.
- Optionally list holidays in YYYY-MM-DD format.
- Press Run.

In the third example listing Republic Day as a holiday moved the result one business day later. If you do not list a holiday the tool counts that day as a business day.
When is it useful?
- Working out delivery, payment and shipping times stated in business days (“within 5 business days”).
- Finding the end date of a task in a project plan.
- Seeing how many business days a month has by entering its first and last day.
Things to keep in mind
- You must enter holidays yourself; dates of religious holidays change each year.
- Half-day eves count as full business days.

Frequently asked questions
What is a business day, which days count?
The tool counts Monday to Friday as business days and skips Saturday and Sunday. Holiday dates you enter are not counted either.
Does the tool know public holidays?
No. Dates of religious holidays change every year, so you must enter them (YYYY-MM-DD, separated by commas or lines). For example you can add 29 October Republic Day as 2026-10-29. Half-day eves count as full business days.
Are the start and end days counted?
When counting between two dates, both start and end days are included. In “add business days” the start day is not counted; the next business day is day 1.
Can I use it for legal deadlines?
The tool does a general calculation. For legally binding deadlines such as notices and contract terms, check the relevant law, contract and official holiday calendar separately, and consult a lawyer if needed.
