Tools for Photo and Image Editors
7 tools useful for resizing, compressing, and converting image formats.
Getting an image ready to use is usually a handful of small steps: shrinking the file, cropping to the right ratio, cleaning up the background, or switching the format. Image Compressor shrinks a photo without visible quality loss, and Image Resizer and Image Cropper get it to the dimensions and ratio you actually need. Background Remover separates a product photo or a portrait from its background, and WebP Converter turns an image into a smaller, faster-loading format for a website. Favicon Generator produces the small icon that shows up in a browser tab from a logo, and Image Color Picker instantly reads off the hex code of any color in an image.
What are these tools good for?
Much of image work is really preparation: the right crop, the right size, the right format and a sensible file weight. Each tool here handles one of those steps.
- Image Cropper: The first step when you want to trim empty space around a product, keep only the relevant part of a screenshot, or cut a square profile photo.
- Image Resizer: Match the pixel size a platform asks for, or bring a huge phone photo down to a sensible width for the web.
- Image Compressor: For when an email attachment is over the limit, a page loads slowly, or an upload form caps file size.
- WebP Converter: Get smaller files for images you put on a website. All current browsers support WebP.
- Background Remover: Useful for product shots, a cut-out portrait for slides, or a logo you need to place on a different background.
- Favicon Generator: Turn your logo into the small icon that shows in the browser tab when you launch a site or blog.
- Image Color Picker: Grab the exact color code from a logo or photo so you can reuse it elsewhere in the design.
A sample workflow
You're preparing product photos for a small shop that sells handmade candles. You crop the phone photo into a square with the candle centered using the Image Cropper. The Background Remover takes out the table and wall. The Image Resizer brings it to the size the shop page uses, and the WebP Converter and Image Compressor make the file lighter. With the Image Color Picker you pull the candle's color and match the page's button to it. In the same session, the Favicon Generator turns the shop logo into a site icon.
Tip
Order matters. Crop first, resize second, compress last. Editing an already compressed image and compressing it again loses a little more quality each round. Keep the original in a separate folder and always work on a copy.
